Teaching by example: kids’ triathlons

PORTAGE, Mich. (WOTV) The Fernandez family has fun together by staying active together. Father Gil, a Priority Health Champion, participated in triathlons and brought the kids to watch. As they got older, they became interested and wanted to participate themselves. Gil found triathlons designed for kids and now the two boys are actively participating and winning triathlons!

Triathlons combine swimming, bicycling, and running into a single event. Winners are picked based on time and age group.

The Fernandez family places an emphasis on living a healthy life, staying active, eating better, and getting involved in the community. They say teaching by example is the best way to teach their children how to make it a lifestyle.
