GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) Members of Young Women for Change are working to get the word out that they have a voice in society and the power to make a difference in young women’s lives.
The program is through the Michigan Women’s Foundation. One of the topics they address is the impact of social media on body image. Forty-one percent of 18 to 24-year-olds retouch photos before posting. In a study, ten-year-old girls told researchers they were dissatisfied with their own bodies after watching a music video or a clip from a TV show. The group also addresses eating disorders and other body image issues.
