Maranda and Eva Aguirre Cooper honored with literacy award

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) Two employees of our stations WOOD TV8 and WOTV 4 Women were honored on Wednesday, June 18, with the Kathryn Timmer Literacy Award. The is presented to those who work to provide confidence and hope to children and young adults with dyslexia and other learning challenges.

Since 2006, this award celebrates individuals or companies at Bringing Literacy to Life event. Funds that are raised provide the tools to spread literacy in our community.

Eva Aguirre Cooper has been the Community Affairs Director at WOOD TV8 since 1998.

Host of the weeknight half-hour program, “Where You Live,” Maranda is the WOTV 4 Women kids and family expert.

By sharing their personal journeys with a learning disability, Eva and Maranda have inspired others who struggle with dyslexia to overcome daily challenges, and reach their full potential.

Some of the past recipients of the Kathryn Timmer Literacy Award include Amway Corporation and Grand Rapids Public Schools.
