Starting a school from scratch

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) The West Michigan Aviation Academy is celebrating its first graduating class. The free charter high school offers unique experiences both in and out of the classroom. Students have gotten to meet and hear from President George W. Bush, space shuttle commander Mark Kelly, and took a special trip to Washington, D.C. with founder Dick DeVos.

Not only are students at West Michigan Aviation Academy learning about science, technology, engineering, and math… they’re experiencing it!

Maranda sits down with founders Dick DeVos and Pat Cwayna to see how they started the school from scratch.
