GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV)- June is here! This is a big month for my family- Our daughter is turning ONE! I cannot believe how fast this past year has gone! Wow! What a blessing it has been to be Evelyn’s mom. I am in the midst of planning her first birthday party and I am SO overwhelmed! There are so many ideas out there- I have a love/hate relationship with Pinterest. I love all of the ideas! But I hate all of the ideas too because there are so many! Am I the only one out there who feels this way?
Anyways, I want to have an outdoor party with family and friends to celebrate Evie. I have quickly come to the decision that outdoor decorating is tough. It is so big out there, how do you decorate?? Here are some tips that I came up with to help out with all your outdoor decorating for your summer get-togethers.
OUTDOOR PARTY DECORATING TIPS
Concentrate: Instead of trying to decorate your entire backyard, try keeping the décor to a centralized area. For the birthday party, I am decorating one table for the cake and presents. You can do the same for a drink table or appetizer table if you have a non-birthday bash going on. Plus, it is a luscious time of year in Michigan. Chances are, nature is taking care of your back yard décor.
Flowers. The farmers markets in Michigan are in full swing now and they have the best flowers. Pick some up the day of your bash for easy centerpieces.
Bring out the furniture. If your party happens to land on a beautiful day, bring your furniture to the party. Your guests will love the twist of having your sofa outside for the get together. Just remember to bring in the sofa before you have your bonfire!
I wish you all a wonderful Michigan summer. Happy party planning!
