Take control of your springtime allergies

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) – Springtime allergies are no fun, or any time of year for that matter. Sometimes allergies come on with age and our changing bodies. For whatever reason we become less immune to irritants that reside in nature.

In the morning, splash the eyes with cool water. This will help with itching and burning sensation. Rinse the sinus passages with warm salt water to wash away irritants then follow this up with oiling the nasal passages.

AVOID dairy. Dairy is loaded with the same qualities as the heaviness of your allergies. Wet, mucous, dense. Eating foods with these same qualities creates more of the same in your body. If you do not believe me try going without dairy for 2 weeks and see for yourself.

Instead, eat warming and light foods. Use spices that are warming and if you are so inspired try an ayurvedic cleanse for 1-3 days. This will help your body be better able to eliminate the toxins that already exist within you and allow your immune system to naturally strengthen.
