IM Kids 3rd Meal is a brand new feeding program that works to provide food insecure children in the Ionia and Montcalm communities, with an evening meal Monday through Friday. Why is this so important? Ionia County has more than 3,530 food insecure children, Montcalm County has more than 4,090 who run the risk of a school lunch being their last meal of the day. What does that mean? In Ionia County 1 in 5 children are food insecure, and in Montcalm County 1 in 4 are food insecure. The I’M Kids 3rd Meal Program is providing evening meals to nearly 500 children each day. There’s a lot of work to do, and no one person can do it all.
The size of this mission requires community support. IM Kids 3rd Meal is offering a variety of projects and ways to help. For more information visit http://www.imkids.org. With the communities support, IM Kids 3rd Meal is hoping to grow from 500 meals, to eventually providing meals for all food insecure children in both counties. If you are interested, it’s easy.
