Kids help design their dream playground

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) What if you could design your dream playground? What would  it include? Kids at one Grand Rapids school got to help design what will be the first playground at their new school.

Students who attend Ellington Academy play in a big field right now, since they don’t have their own playground. A partnership between Great Schools, Kaboom! along with financial and volunteer help from Amway, means things like swings sets will be in the future of kid at Ellington.

Students even got to give input to the builders and organizers, what they would like in their playground. Ideas included basketball courts, slides, zip lines, an obstacle course, maybe sand boxes, monkey bars or a climbing wall. Not all of those things will happen, but it gives the students a chance to get creative.

Build day is June 13th at Ellington Academy. Their address is 600 Burton SE, Grand Rapids.
