GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV)- Grocery shopping is a regular part of many people’s weekends, but what we’re putting in our carts has evolved a lot over the years. One way to know what we’re buying is to really inspect those labels. WOTV 4 Women’s Living Well Expert Margaux Drake has some tips, including looking for third party certification, like certified organic, non-GMO, Rain Forest alliance, fair trade, and cruelty free.
Here are some great products with the ecolabels:
Certified Organic: Veganaise, Spectrum Coconut Oil, Pacific Foods Broth, Nature’s Earthly Choice, Bob’s Red Mill Chia Seeds, Earth Balance Tub, Simply Organic Spices
Non-GMO: Quinoa, look for other examples in the store.
Rain Forest Alliance: Endangered Species Bars
Fair Trade: Tea
Cruelty Free: EcoMe Cleaning Products
Margaux will be talking about this topic at the D&W Fresh Market at Knapp’s Crossing on Saturday, April 26, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. “Eco labeling 101” is free! All you have to do is stop by the produce section.
