GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) There’s a competition that encourages kids to get fit while having fun. Jump Jam took place at DeVos Place on Saturday, April 19. The competition is geared toward promoting health and wellness for children at Grand Rapids Public Schools.
Jump roping has great health benefits. Jumping for 15 minutes burns 200 calories and is great exercise for all ages. It also strengthens heart, muscles, and bones, and improves agility and rhythm. Plus, it’s inexpensive! Jump ropes cost less than $15.
Some participants from Palmer Elementary School came into studio to show off some of their moves and talk about why they love jump roping.
