A new twist on sidewalk chalk

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) Every kid with an inner artist loves creating masterpieces with sidewalk chalk. Now there’s a new twist to the old classic: sidewalk chalk paint! And a fun bonus – it erupts! Check out how to make it with your family, courtesy of Learn Play Imagine:

  • Cornstarch
  • Baking soda
  • Water
  • Liquid watercolor paint or food coloring
  • Vinegar
  • Squeeze bottles
  • Spray bottles

Mix 1/3 cup of water, 1/3 cup of cornstarch, and 1/3 cup of baking soda with each color. Add plenty of food coloring, since the base of the paint is white. Once mixed, pour paint into squeeze bottles. Let the kids have a blast with the paint, and afterward, see their reactions when they spray it with vinegar and see it bubble up and fizz! A spray with the hose should wash the mess away.
