GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) The Gazelle Girl race is on Sunday, April 13, and women across West Michigan are getting ready for an event of exercise, fun, and mingling. The event includes a 5K walk/run and a half marathon.
Kristin Cheng is one of the women getting ready to run in the Gazelle Girl, but it was a long road for her to get there, and she’s making every step count by supporting a great cause. She shares her remarkable story with Rachael and Eva of eightWest.
You can kick off Gazelle Girl weekend at the WOTV 4 Women’s Network Night on Friday, April 11, at the Grand Rapids Art Museum. It includes complimentary snacks and sips, a video booth, photos, shopping, and meeting other runners. Plus you can hear an inspiring speaker talk about her journey, and get your race day questions answered by an expert panel! It’s free, yut you do need to register to attend. If you need a little warm up before the big event on Sunday, join Fellow Flowers for a free two mile Shake Out Run bright and early on Saturday, April 12. It’s an easy two mile course through downtown with some historical sites highlighted along the way. Or come to the Expotique at the Grand Rapids Downtown Market anytime between noon and 8 p.m. to pick up your race packet.
If you’re already signed up and ready to run, come to the Huntington Bank parking lot on Monroe Avenue Sunday morning before 7:30 a.m. to get your day off to a great start! The half marathon steps off at 8 a.m. and the 5k run and walk both get moving 20 minutes later. Awards will be presented at 10 a.m. at Rosa Parks Circle.
