End spring break with family fun

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) Spring break is almost over, but there’s still a lot of fun things to check out around West Michigan this weekend! From movies to festivals and Easter celebrations, this week’s Maranda and Star 105.7 Five Star Family Fun Update is jam packed with tons of great ideas!

Free movie for kids under 12 years old. Adults are $4. Show times will be available on Tuesday evenings the week the movie starts.

West Michigan Gaming Convention, 28th Street Showplace
Friday, April 11 – Sunday, April 13
Public and trade show and expo. Events throughout the weekend, demonstrations, and vendors. See list of events and prices online.

Spring Break Kidz Fest ’14, The DeltaPlex, Walker
Friday, April 11 – Sunday, April 13
Exciting activities and entertainment from toddlers to teens! Rides, games, animal attractions, live shows. $5 admission. $12 all-day wrist band.

Spring Break Bash, Dairy Discovery, Alto
Friday, April 11 & Saturday, April 12, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Guided educational tours, hay rides, bottle feeding, baby calves, watch cows be milked, dairy snacks. Admission is $8. Family rate: buy four, get one free!

Easter Egg Hunt, Barnes & Noble in Grandville
Saturday, April 12 at 10 a.m.
For children ages two to five. Easter egg hunt just outside the children’s department at Barnes & Noble at Rivertown Crossings Mall. Free!

Easter Egg Drop, Walker Memorial Library, Muskegon
Saturday, April 12, 10 a.m. – noon
The Easter Bunny will drop 4,000 eggs filled with candy and prizes! Activities, prizes, snacks and games in the community center. Free!

Kids Club, Koetsier’s Greenhouse, Grand Rapids
Saturday, April 12, 10 a.m. – noon
Kids gardening activities! This week is Plant Life Cycle craft and Leaf Rubbings. Free!

Go Green Super Saturday, Muskegon Museum of Art
Saturday, April 12, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Explore ways to be more environmentally friendly by creating upcycled art. Watch the Dr. Seuss movie “The Lorax” at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. Guided exhibition tours from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free!

Kids Easter Party, Baker Book House, Kentwood
Saturday, April 12, 10:30 a.m. – Noon
Crafts, story time, and Easter egg hunt. Free!

Easter Egg Hunt, Byron Township Community Center
Saturday, April 12, 11 a.m.
Outdoor hunt will take place at Whistlestop Park soccer field. Rain location is inside the community center. Ages 2-5 at 11 a.m., ages 6-10 at 11:30 a.m. Other fun activities until 1 p.m. Free!

Gazelle Girl, Rosa Parks Circle, Grand Rapids
Sunday, April 13, 8 a.m.
5K run/walk and marathon just for women. Benefits Kent County Girls on the Run, the YWCA, GROW, and Sisters in Support. $30 for the 5K. Can register online through April 10. Late registration at Expotique on April 12.

Easter Egg Hunt, Faith Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids
Sunday, April 13, 12:15 p.m.
All families with children through fifth grade are invited! The hunt will be in the courtyard immediately after service. Children ages four and younger will have their own egg hunt. Free!

Guided Spring Hike, Wittenbach/Wege Agriscience and Environmental Education, Lowell
Sunday, April 13 at 2 p.m.
Go for a hike in search of signs of spring. Participants should meet at the center shortly before 2 p.m. Free! Registration not required.
