GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) There are a lot of emergencies that can happen like a tornado, severe winter storm, power outage, or flood. When you need to act fast, you need something you can grab and go, or hunker down at home. That’s why the American Red Cross of Greater Grand Rapids suggests having a preparedness kit. Here are some of the items they suggest you keep packed at all times:

  • First aid kit
  • Blankets
  • Basic hygiene items: toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, hand sanitizer, etc.
  • Medications
  • Weather radio
  • Diapers and wipes
  • Non perishable food: granola bars, canned soup, crackers, etc.
  • Flashlights with extra batteries
  • Activities for the kids
