How to pick a pediatrician

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) Choosing the right doctor for your baby is an important decision. You’ll be visiting the doctor six times in the first year for routine baby visits, so it’s important to start early. Dr. Abeba Berhane from Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital recommends parents start looking for a pediatrician about three to four months before the baby is due. That gives you time to search for pediatricians and visit their offices. Many pediatricians allow parents to come in to meet the doctor, nurses, and staff, and ask questions. Some of the recommended questions include:

  • Are you a parent?
  • How do you feel about breastfeeding?
  • How do you feel about vaccines?
  • What are your credentials?

You can find information on finding a pediatrician, track your baby’s development, and receive helpful tips and tricks by going to the Healthy Children website.
