Solving hunger with sack suppers

MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOTV) There’s a program that’s making a big difference in children’s lives in Muskegon County. Kids’ Food Basket says one in four children in West Michigan suffer from food insecurity. In Muskegon County, that rate is one in three.

Kids’ Food Basket supplies a nutritious meal that students can take home and eat in the evening. Without it, school lunch is often their last meal of the day.

Volunteers help Kids’ Food Basket pack and deliver 600 sack suppers every day. Each meal is healthy, made up of a homemade sandwich, fruits, and vegetables.

The program is always looking for volunteers. If you would like to help by donating time or money, go to Kids’ Food Basket website by clicking here.
