GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) Understanding health care options can be overwhelming, especially when it comes to choosing new plans. Starting April 1, there is a new plan called the Healthy Michigan Plan. Our friends at Priority Health break it down for us.
The Healthy Michigan Plan is a new program that provides coverage for people that are up to 133% of the Federal Poverty Level. That’s an income of $15,200 for a household of one, or $31,300 for a household of four. Other requirements include:
- Ages 19-64
- A resident of Michigan
- Not currently eligible for Medicaid
- Not eligible for or enrolled in Medicare
- Not pregnant when applying for the plan
The Healthy Michigan Plan covers doctor visits, emergency services, hospitalization, maternity and newborn care, prescription drugs, laboratory services, and preventive and wellness services.
You can enroll in the Healthy Michigan Plan at any time after April 1 online, by phone, or in person. You can find information on Priority Health’s Healthy Michigan Plan on their website, or visit the Michigan Department of Community Health’s website for a more complete overview.
