MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WOTV) March is reading month, and reading is what it’s all about at Edgewood Elementary. The school is part of the Muskegon Heights Public School district, which has four schools in all, serving children in grades kindergarten through 12.
Edgewood is celebrating reading month with a number of events all month long. They kicked it off with an assembly featuring Ronald McDonald. Every day, from 8:45 a.m. to 9 a.m., they have D.E.A.R., or Drop Everything And Read. Later in the month, they are planning a gala where they will open the school to the community to invite them to read. Each teacher has also decorated their classroom door with a different theme. Students are also encouraged to read 30 minutes a day at home, with a goal of 10,000 hours of reading for the whole school in March.
