GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) Paws with a Cause is a non-profit organization in West Michigan that trains assistance dogs for people with disabilities. They provide hearing dogs for people who are deaf or hearing impaired, service dogs for people with physical impairments, balance impairments, seizures, or autism. They’ve made a big difference in West Michigan because of the volunteers that work with the organization.
Paws with a Cause is looking for volunteers who will act as foster families for service dogs as young as eight weeks old. You would foster the dog for 16 to 18 months, come to weekly obedience trainings at Paws with a Cause in Wayland, and take the dog out in public as much as possible. No experience is needed. If you’re interested, you can find more information here.
Paws with a Cause is one of the charity partners with the Fifth Third River Bank Run. Any race participant can sign up to raise money for Paws with a Cause. You can see the complete list of charity partners here.
