Magnificent Mondays in March will help give the gift of literacy to kids

The Ionia Intermediate School District is pleased to partner again with McDonalds Restaurants in the county to raise awareness and funds for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library of Ionia County.  Each Monday during the month of March a different McDonald’s restaurant will donate a certain percentage of their sales between the hours of 3 and 7 to the Imagination Library.  The dates for each location are as follows:

  • March 3, 2014 Ionia McDonalds
  • March 10, 2014 Belding McDonalds
  • March 17, 2014 Portland McDonalds
  • March 24, 2014 Lake Odessa McDonalds

The “Cat in the Hat” will be on hand for photo opportunities with children. Forms will be available to sign up for the Imagination Library and raffle tickets will also be on hand for purchase to win one of 35 handmade quilts in the theme of the Fuzzy Duckling.  This will be a wonderful opportunity for all community members to come out and support the program.

The Dolly Parton Imagination Library of Ionia County provides a book a month to children birth to five for a complete home library of 60 books.  The program costs $27.00 per year for a child to receive 12 books mailed directly to their home. The program is completely funded by community donations.   Drew Rodewald area supervisor for the Belding location, states “McDonald’s is extremely proud to partner with and support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library of Ionia County.  The program does an outstanding job of providing books to young children throughout the community, so we are happy to be a part of it.”  His sentiments are echoed by owner Keith Berg of the Ionia and Lake Odessa restaurants.  We hope to see you at McDonalds on a Monday in March between 3 and 7; DRIVE THROUGH COUNTS at all locations just in case you are allergic to cats!
