Student contest to save energy

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) A team of ten students from Byron Center Middle School are part of the Eco Challenge team. It’s a national science contest that seeks to empower teens to take action for the environment.

The challenge was to take their energy and cut it in half by using different techniques. So they came up with a way to power their school laptops by using peddle-powered generators. They won the first challenge in the competition and received $10,000 and were also selected as the $30,000 grand prize winners of the final challenge!
