GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) Valentine’s Day is often a day filled with cookies, chocolate, and other treats. But the holiday doesn’t mean you can’t be healthy and have fun at the same time! Allison Harring from United Dairy Industry of Michigan shows us some healthy treats that you can make at home that are fun, beautiful, and delicious!
Peanut Butter Yogurt Dip with Red Apple Slices
- ¾ cup fat free vanilla yogurt
- 1/3 cup peanut butter
- Dash of cinnamon
- Red apple, sliced
Mix all ingredients together. Slice up some red apple for dipping!
Yogurt Dip with Melon Skewers
- ¾ cup plain fat free yogurt
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 2 Tbsp. powdered sugar
- Assorted melon (watermelon, honeydew, cantaloupe)
Mix all ingredients together. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut heart-shaped pieces of fruit. Put on skewers or Popsicle sticks.
Strawberry Cream Cheese Sandwich
- 4 oz. low fat cream cheese, softened
- 5-6 chopped strawberries
- Dash of brown sugar
Mix all ingredients together and spread on two pieces of whole wheat bread or toast.
Homemade Strawberry Milk
- 1 cup skim milk
- ¾ cup frozen strawberries
- 1 tsp. sugar
Mix well in a blender.
