Dog program encourages kids to read

Ruff Readers

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) You don’t expect to see dogs in a hospital, but you might run into some very special dogs at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. The hospital is partnering with West Michigan Therapy Dogs for a program called Ruff Readers. The organization brings in dogs to children in the hospital can read to them. Organizers say the dog’s patient and affectionate presence helps children relax and enjoy the reading process.
